This month marks the opening of many of London’s most popular ice rinks in the lead up to the festive season, and south east London has its fair share of them.

South east London

Bluewater

Surrey Comet: Bluewater's popular ice rink is set to return next month.

Where? Bluewater Shopping Centre, Greenhithe, Kent, DA9 9ST

When? November 14 to January 7

How much? Adults and teens from £14.50, children from £12.50, families from £4

The ice rink is situated close to a number of popular restaurants and eateries in the Village including Buenasado, Carluccio’s, Cote Brasserie, Pizza Express and Zizzi’s.

Alongside its regular sessions, the rink will also be running additional ticketed sessions, including quiet sessions at 10am on Saturdays and Sundays, and parent and toddler sessions on Mondays and Fridays at 12pm.

Skating aids and penguins will also be available for small children needing some additional support.

For the adults, the popular Ice Rink Party Nights will be returning by popular demand, where guests can skate to party music soundtracks on Friday evenings.

Ruxley Manor

Surrey Comet: Ruxley Manor ice rink is set to return next month.

Where? Ruxley Manor Garden Centre, Maidstone Road. Sidcup, Kent, DA14 5BQ

When? November 10 to January 7 How much? £5 per person per session off peak (£12 peak), carers go free.

Festive drinks and snacks will also be on offer at the garden centre, from hot chocolate to mulled wine.

The ice rink will also be offering Little Penguin Sessions for a child and adult using a skate aid, from Monday, November 13 until Friday, December 15 between 10am-11am at £5 a ticket.

There will also be SEN sessions for disabled visitors and their carers every Thursday, from November 16 until December 14 between 10am-11am.

Queen's House Greenwich

Where? Queen's House, Romney Rd, London SE10 9NF

When? November 23 to January 7, 10am-9pm on peak dates, 11am-9pm off peak

How much? Adults from £17, children from £10, students from £11.90, members get 30% discount.

Set in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Queen’s House in Greenwich, this popular open-air ice rink is returning for another year.

Skaters will have views of Greenwich Park and Canary Wharf.

Afterwards, why not explore the museums or take a walk to Greenwich Market to do a spot of Christmas shopping.

South West London

Glide at Battersea Power Station

When? November 10 to January 7, 10am-10pm weekdays, 9am-10pm weekends.

How much? Adults and teens from £12.50, children from £8.50, families from £38, adult and toddler from £11.50, and students from £14.

Set in the backdrop of Battersea Power Station, this open-air ice rink will give visitors views of the Thames and the London skyline.

There are also plenty of other things to see and do, from shopping in Battersea Power Station to vintage fairground rides and live entertainment in the glass house, along with a variety of restaurants to eat at.

Hampton Court Palace Ice Rink

When? November 17 to January 7, 10am to 8:45pm

How much? Adults & teens from £19, children from £14, families from £53, discounts available for students and emergency service workers.

Set in the historical location of Hampton Court Palace, this ice rink offers views of the palace that was once home to Kings and Queens of England.
