A Premier League was put in handcuffs after he was wrongly accused of stealing a tub of £1.85 soft cheese from Tesco.
Queens Park Rangers defender, Steven Caulker, was handcuffed outside Tesco Express, Queens Road, Weybridge, on Tuesday, September 16, after an allegation of shoplifting was made.
A Tesco spokesman said: "The matter was resolved at the store and our store colleagues decided not to press charges."
Witnesses said the 22-year-old former Spurs footballer had left the store with the tub of Philadelphia cheese, but was heading back inside with it when the police arrived.
A police spokesman said: "Surrey Police attended the Tesco Express store in Queens Road, Weybridge, shortly after 9pm on Tuesday, September 16, but no theft occurred.
"It appears to have been a misunderstanding between staff about payment."
