The great nephew of a fighter pilot shot down during the Battle of Britain visited his memorial plaque for the first time.
Tony Sydney, 45, from St Austell, Cornwall, never knew he had a great uncle until recently.
It came as quite a surprise to find the uncle he never knew much about had been taken to heart in Walton.
Mr Sydney said: "I was very moved actually, I only found out about Charles about three years ago."
Flight Sergeant Charles Sydney was shot down in Walton, in a Spitfire in 1940. Mr Sydney decided, while visiting Brighton, to jump on a train on Monday, October 27, and visit the place where his great uncle's plane came down.
Mr Sydney said: "I'm blown away by the what the town has done, it's amazing."
