KINGSTON’S voluntary groups can once again apply for council funding to kick-start community projects.

Kingston Council has launched the second round of its annual grants, with community groups able to apply for up to £3,000 under the New Initiatives scheme and up to £750 for Your Kingston grants.

Councillor Julie Pickering, cabinet member with responsibility for partnerships, said: "The voluntary sector in Kingston does so much to improve the lives of those who need support the most."

New Initiatives grants are aimed at newly set up community activities or projects, while Your Kingston grants are intended for small grass roots organisations to help them grow.

In total £25,000 has been set aside.
