Harlequins academy youngster James Gulliver scored twice but finished on the losing side in the U18 Schools’ Champions Trophy final at on Wednesday.

The England U16 international, who started his career at Weybridge Vandals, touched down in each half, but is was not enough to prevent his team Epsom College losing 28-21 to Bedford School at Saracens’ Allianz Park home.

Harlequins scored 28 unanswered second-half points at Braywick Road to overturn a hefty deficit and beat Wasps 38-28 in the A League on Monday night.

Tim Swiel, playing at full back, and Owen Evans dotted down in the first half for Quins, but four Wasps scores – including a double for Alex Rieder – put the hosts 28-10 up early in the second half.

However, scores from Ollie Lindsay-Hague and Seb Adeniran-Olule – plus a penalty try – secured maximum points.

Lindsay-Hague’s heroics followed on from his try in last Thursday’s 32-20 European Rugby Challenge Cup bonus point win at Cardiff.

Quins trailed 6-3 at half time before Lindsay-Hague, Charlie Walker, Tim Visser and Danny Care secured maximum points from the Pool Three clash.

Quins return to Premiership action at Exeter Chiefs on Saturday.
